Update Link: Chain Reaction – Part 22

Sorry about skipping yesterday! It was a ridiculous day from start to finish — normally, I’d say the Liason scenes made it all okay, but as good as they were (short but very sweet and promising) but the news that Jonathan Jackson is coming back later this summer. I couldn’t even enjoy tweeting about Liason like we usually do on their days because everyone started doomsdaying the whole thing. It’s like as soon as Steve came back, we weren’t allowed to be excited because oh, well, he’ll just go back to Carly or Sam. Like, damn, let me live, lol. I’m mostly neutral about the Lucky return. I’m enjoying the show right now, and I’m seeing some really good setup for Jason and Elizabeth (and some hopes that the spoiled Jason/Carly fight is as vicious as spoilers suggest).

I don’t see a lot of story for Lucky, but maybe he’ll be the one to figure out Spencer is alive and be part of bringing him home. He’s got a lot of history with the Cassadines and back from the dead, so it’d be a great way to dive back into their lore. Since working on FMT with the Lucky story there, I’m mostly ambivalent about him. I don’t see him as a failed character the way a lot of people do, but I think he’s really flawed, and he’s never had to face his shortcomings. Someone’s always made excuses for him. I think there’s something there, and JJ’s talented enough to do it. But will the writing be there? I don’t know.

BUT, lol, I’m feeling better. Last few weeks were crazy trying to get my summer school curriculum off the ground, fit in 50 hours of curriculum AND get caught up with my online class. Practically the only writing I did was flash fiction. But I’m looking forward to that paycheck 😛

To make up for missing yesterday (did I mention the credit card fraud I had to spend hours on the phone fixing? Someone charged 1800 worth of furniture to my Wayfair account) I’m adding a Saturday update.

See you tomorrow!

Update Link: Chain Reaction – Part 21

Switching gears this week back to Chain Reaction and I’m really glad it worked out this week because today’s part is the big turning point. If you didn’t catch the previews for GH, tomorrow is a Liason day! They’re going to be talking about Jake. Very excited! Make sure to catch it live or on Hulu if you can and talk about it on social media!

I had major back pain yesterday (first time in months!) and only slept three hours last night, so I am exhausted, lol. I still have about 13.5 hours left of curriculum, and it has to be done by Thursday at 2:30. I’m so glad I’ll be getting my afternoons back after Wednesday!

I still have to update the sidebar, but it’s mostly 6PM updates this week, though I think Wednesday might 8PM because the Phillies play earlier but I have to double check.

See you tomorrow!

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 21

Popping in before I have to leave for Sasha’s vet appointment. I’ve been leaving the new cat carrier out all week hoping the comfy bottom would attract her to take naps, and it has. So cross your fingers when I leave at 2:30, all I have to do is zip her up and go, lol.

After today, we’re switching to Chain Reaction next week. I should be able to keep going on the daily updates, but I don’t know what times yet. I have to sit down and look at my schedule, so I usually try to update the widget to the left. I hope I’m leaving you in a good place on Warning Shots. We made a lot of progress this week and now both stories have the same amount of updates, which is good.

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 20

A bit late today — I watched GH live today after finishing curriculum, and rage tweeted for like an hour because Sam continues to be a garbage pail of a person. I’m thinking of stories where I can kill her off just to get the rage out. Then I had to break down tonight’s update (because it’s an important one so I wanted to think about what I wanted to write) and you know, eat dinner, lol.

I’m not sure exactly when tomorrow’s update will be. I have a vet appoint at 3 for my cat, and I’d need to be home by 5 to start writing at 5:30 and post before the game at 6:40. My morning has to be curriculum, so I could start early, and write around 1 and post at 2.

So stay tuned — I’m either updating at 2PM, 6:30PM or  like 11PM. I always post on Twitter before I start writing, so that’s one way to check.

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 19

I hope you guys liked that unhinged double update, lol, last night, but don’t expect it tonight. I’m exhausted from curriculum writing all day. The only good thing is that I’ve literally written lesson plans for the first month of classes, and I have the bare bones of the LPs for the rest of the year. I’m killing myself the last two weeks of June so that September feels like a breeze. And I’m getting paid for it, so you know, go me 😛

I’m so happy you guys are enjoying this story so far! It’s been a really fun one to write, even though Jason and Elizabeth keep having conversations I didn’t ask them to and looking at each other when they’re not supposed to (and Emily going off the rails was a pleasant surprise that turned out to be a really good thing). I keep going off script with this one a bit more than I usually do, but it’s fun (even if it’s exhausting to keep resetting, lol). Thanks again to Lila for the plot bunny that inspired this 🙂

We’ll be updated this story two more times, then taking the weekend off (I have to get back to These Small Hours!) and returning next week with Chain Reaction.

See you tomorrow around 5!

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 18

In Case You Missed It: Warning Shots – Part 17 (from like five hours ago)

Listen. The fight Emily had with Jason in Part 17 was NOT in the outline and it threw everything off, so I wanted to get back on track and still have the Friday ending I want before switching to a different story. ALSO I make the rules, so there.

Also, the Phillies had a majestic walk off win — down 3-2 to the Padres in the bottom of the 9th. MVP Bryce Harper comes up, hits a single. Bohm, the RBI machine and future 1st time All-Star this year? Hits another single. Harper heads to third. Stott, the legendary A-OK grand slam hitter, hits ANOTHER single. SCORES THE TYING RUN. And then my boy, Nick, my legend, my favorite Phillie on this team of perfectly calibrated fan favorites, NICKY THREE BUTTONS CASTELLANOS HITS A DOUBLE TO WALK THE WHOLE DAMN THING OFF and then his son is part of the daycare team dunking him with water.

Baseball is perfect, and I was happy, so you get a second update of this story.

I trust no one will complain.

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 17

First day of summer school down! For a little while it looked like I was going to be teaching two sessions, one at 8 and a second one at 12:30 which was nice for the bank account but TERRIBLE for my schedule, lol. But they reorganized it, and I’m back to just a two-hour shift. I’ll be really glad after next week when I’m done writing the curriculum. It’s going to set me up really well for next year with the majority of next year’s content at least planned or partially completed, but it’s exhausting, lol 3-4 hours a day.

Hope you guys enjoy this update 😛

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 16

Summer school starts tomorrow, and I’m pretty sure I’m doing the 8-10 session which is actually good. It means I get up, I get moving, but I’m done work by 10 and can get on with the rest of my day.  I’ve been working today to get my summer class organized – I held off doing plans for it until I was sure it was a go (had to wait for kids to sign up) so had to spend a little time on that today after working on my curriculum.

I’ll be updating Warning Shots all week, Monday-Friday either at 5 or at 8. I’ll switch to Chain Reaction for next week. Right now, it feels like I can maintain that daily schedule, but also don’t be surprised if I just skip days. I think for right now, I’ll just alternate the stories by weeks so we can get some momentum going. Times will be flexible, but those 5/8 slots seem good to me, so I can finish work, come home, do curriculum and still have time to work on other things. I still have to juggle in my online class, though the work for that is starting to get easier since we’re doing lesson plans the next few weeks, and I can write those in like ten minutes, lol.

See you tomorrow around 5 🙂

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 15

With graduation behind me and the meeting I had to take to start writing curriculum, I get to really get going on my summer vacation — outside of summer school, lol. Just getting that extra hour of sleep and not having to be “on” six hours five days a week, it’s just such a relief. I couldn’t imagine teaching without having substantial time off to rest and recharge.

I’m really happy you guys are enjoying Warning Shots as much as I am! It’s kind of crazy to think of how far the story has come since I originally envisioned it as short little episodes that deal with the LL2 breakup before I got into a second story that was really Liason. This entire spring break arc wasn’t even in the original plan, lol. That’s the fun of flash fiction — getting to let a story just develop and see where it goes.

I should find out my summer school schedule on Monday, so I’ll be able to let you know the times for next week at that point. I’m not ruling out a flash update this weekend, but I definitely want to attempt to actually take a break (other than the 3 hours a day I have to spend on curriculum, lol).

Update Link: Warning Shots – Part 14

We made it! My eight-hour days are over! Until the last week of August, that is. I have to go back for graduation tonight (which is going to suck, lol, I didn’t even like my own graduations), then go in for a little while tomorrow to get started on curriculum writing — then summer school next week. It’s only two hours a day 2-4 days a week so it’s not even a lot of time.

I was going to update last night, but I came home to a leak and flooded basement. The water line to my fridge was cracked and leaking alllll day. Awful. I’m fortunate that my dad is an absolutely stupidly good shape for his early 60s (you’d never know it, really, I wish I had his energy) and he came up to take care of it. But it messed up my entire night. So here I am to make up for it!

A little programming note: I’m struggling just a little bit with Chain Reaction — there’s a specific story beat I need to navigate and I’m having trouble figuring out the best way to plot it.  Meanwhile, Warning Shots has like 15 parts completely planned out, so I’m going back to updating just that for a week or two, just to give myself some space. As soon as I know my summer school schedule, I’ll be able to figure out which days and times I’ll be updating Flash this summer.

Plus, I am suuuuper excited for you guys to see what I’ve planned for Warning Shots!

See you tomorrow! (time is probably going to change — just need to figure out what time I’m getting home tomorrow)
