So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There’s vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lies
That you make up for all that you lack
Inspiration
I wish I could say I had a vision for this story, but the truth is I didn’t even remember it until Carla sent me a copy last spring. Once I had it in my posession, I vaguely remembered it as the fallout of Lila’s death back in 2004. I wrote a few chapters, shelved it, and apparently completely forgot it.
Timeline
It picks up during Lila’s funeral in July 2004. Other than that, it doesn’t look like I intended to change anything. So Jason’s with Sam during the paternity mess, Elizabeth has just returned with Cameron. Nikolas knows his identity but lacks memories, and so on.
Graveyard Status
I started a job in May 2004 and didn’t get a DVR until around September 2005, so for the majority of that time, my GH watching was basically non-existent. I had some vague ideas on what was going on, but nothing specific. So I started this story in July 2004 but once I came back to writing in 2005, it had disappeared from my radar.
At this point, if I revisit it, it’ll be completely rewritten since I’m not particularly happy with the way this version worked out. It’s a vague idea of continuing it, but nothing concrete since I have a ton on my drawing board.
Update, December 21, 2014: I found an old notation on one of Crimson Glass’s defunct Yuku boards in which I wrote that Silent Reverie was being discontinued because I was writing Mad World at that point, and felt like I was repeating myself with Jason being the father.
Also, at some point, there was a Chapter Four. I had it archived at the old Crimson Glass, but the Internet Wayback machine didn’t save that particular file.
